Cheap Organic Chemicals. Low priced compounds ready to use in synthesis.

You can browse through the structures of ca. 300 organic compounds which are relatively cheap to purchase from specialty chemical suppliers. "Cheap" in this context means less than about $50 per 100 g, with prices which are often closer to $20 per 100 g. These are generally high purity materials ready to use as reagents in synthesis. No attempt has been made to organize or index these compounds, or even name them. In order to find a chemical, you will have to find the compound's molecular formula and then search a supplier's formula index. Most compounds feature at least dual functionality, often with one functional group hidden or protected in some way.

The book "Seven Spectacular Compounds and the folding project that spawned them," by Jonathan Filley, describes the logic of some of these compounds in synthesis.
